Welcome to Somerdale ET - Reception Class 2018/19

A very big welcome to all of our families. This page will be updated weekly. A learning overview for the Autumn term will be published shortly on this page.

 

This week's learning - Week commencing 17th September

Every Sunday we will update this section to inform you of our planned learning objectives for the coming week.

This week we will be...

-embedding our class charter - praising each other for following the ideas that we all agreed to.

-exploring poetry and the rhyme and rhythm of words

-Finding out more about Michael Rosen - reading one of his poems every day.

-Focussing on the poem ‘Oh Dear’ by Michael Rosen, and creating our own version by playing with rhyme.

-Identifying the initial phoneme in words. (initial sound)

-Exploring our Maths

-Sharing stories about diversity, and that it is OK to be different.

-Marking the International Day of Peace by reading a traditional tale, and thinking about how we can respond when people make us feel sad, upset or angry.

Other things happening this week...

Friday 21st September 8.50-9.20am Parent Workshop - ‘The Reception Year’ in the School Hall.

-All children are now in school full-time. Doors open from 8.40-8.50 for a morning activity. The children then sit to enjoy some books. The end of the school day is 3.10pm.

Please ensure your child brings a coat with them into school - The weather is very changeable at the moment! Please also make sure it is named!
